Job summary

Cogir Senior Living Canada is seeking a Cook to prepare and deliver all foods for residents, guests and staff in a healthcare/retirement setting. You will review menus, follow production sheets, and ensure proper food handling and dietary requirements are met.

Responsibilities include temperature audits, batch preparation for therapeutic diets, and strict adherence to service timelines and budgets. This role requires physical stamina and compliance with safety, health, and privacy standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Red Seal Certificate preferred.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, healthcare or retirement setting.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide.
• Knowledge of and experience with special and therapeutic diets.
• Physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for long shifts.
• Second language is an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (within six months) or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees.
• Review menus and production sheets; prepare and serve meals properly and attractively.
• Ensure use of proper food handling techniques.
• Complete daily temperature audits for fridge, freezers and storerooms; record findings.
• Prepare and serve foods for therapeutic/special diet menus; record substitutions.
• Adhere to service times, production charts and budget guidelines.
• Comply with regulations and department policies; participate in planning special meals.
• Attend staff meetings and training; uphold Resident Rights and ethics.
• Follow health and safety legislation and safe job procedures; work with vulnerable adults.
