Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. is actively seeking a Cube Van Driver to join our Organics team in Calgary, AB. You will operate a cube van, perform daily safety inspections, and support on-time collection to keep communities running cleanly and smoothly.

The role requires a valid Class 5 license, 2+ years of commercial driving experience, and a strong commitment to safety. You’ll work with a team, adhere to routes, and contribute to high service standards.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Minimum two years of commercial driving experience.
• Ability to safely operate commercial collection vehicles and equipment.
• Commitment to safety standards in a safety-sensitive role.
• Strong attendance and flexibility for early starts and overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Operate a cube van on assigned routes and collect waste.
• Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
• Secure bins, empty them at customer sites, and return bins to the site.
• Follow proper system operations to prevent equipment damage.
• Report maintenance needs, hazards, or incidents to management.
• Maintain route productivity, customer service, and vehicle cleanliness.
• Adhere to traffic laws, bylaws and PPE standards.
• Collaborate with Supervisors and Dispatch to ensure smooth operations.

Requirements

• Licensing: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Driving Experience: Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience.
• Equipment Operation: Demonstrated ability to safely operate commercial collection vehicles and equipment.
• Safety Commitment: Ability to successfully satisfy all company standards for safety-sensitive operational roles.
• Reliability: Strong attendance record and flexibility to support early morning start schedules and operational overtime when needed.

Responsibilities

• Safe Fleet Operation: Safely operate a collection truck along assigned routes.
• Safety Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections daily and complete required trip logs and paperwork.
• Collection: Daily route consists of driving to customer sites (which can be remote), securing bin on truck, emptying bin and returning bin to customer site.
• System Operations: Skillfully operate systems using proper techniques to prevent equipment damage.
• Reporting & Maintenance: Promptly report any mechanical write-ups, route hazards, or safety incidents to management. Perform driver check-ins at days end to ensure complete and accurate paperwork completion.
• Service Quality: Maintain high route productivity, customer service standards, and vehicle cleanliness. Ensure assigned routes are completed in a timely and safe manner.
• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, municipal bylaws, company safety policies, and required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with Supervisors and Dispatch to support smooth, efficient daily operations.

Additional Duties

• Perform other operational duties as assigned by leadership.
