Job summary

Island Health seeks a Critical Care Cardiac Registered Nurse for the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. This temporary part-time role includes rotating shifts and multi-site coverage with a 0.77 FTE and bi-weekly hours. Start date Oct 21 2026 and end around Apr 3 2027. VRecurity: CR CRC; CPR/ACLS may be expected.

Registered with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as an RN; requires at least 2 years in critical care and accuracy in arrhythmia interpretation. ACLS is an asset.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Minimum 2 years recent Critical Care nursing experience.
• Demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation; ACLS is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide direct nursing care to patients/residents in hospital or community settings.

• Assist with cardiac/critical care procedures as appropriate per unit guidelines.

Job Description

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BCCNM Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Minimum 2 years recent Critical Care nursing experience and or an accredited Critical Care course. Demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation as evidenced by a mark of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam. Advanced Cardiac Life Support is an asset.

Echocardiography nurse positions also require:

• Training in transesophageal echocardiography, cardioversions and procedural sedation, plus two (2) years recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required for Echocardiography nurse positions.
