Job summary

Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) seeks a registered nurse for a temporary part-time position at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. Provide direct nursing care in a busy hospital setting, following standards and patient- and family-centered care concepts.

Reports to the Nurse Manager; requires BC RN registration and up to two years of related experience. Shifts include 08:00-16:00 and 19:00-07:15, rotating days off, 0.48 FTE, with a Sep 20, 2026 start and Dec 31, 2026 end date.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Up to two years recent, related experience depending on clinical setting.
• Specialty unit positions require area-specific specialty certification.

Responsibilities

• Plan and provide direct nursing care to patients/residents in accordance with unit philosophy and standards.
• Report to the Nurse Manager or designate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and co-workers; prioritize and organize workload.

Job Description

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Plans and provides direct nursing care to patients/residents in the hospital or in the community in accordance with the unit/program philosophy, competency guidelines, policies, and the BC College of Nurses and Midwives Standards for Nursing Practice in British Columbia.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Up to two (2) years recent, related experience depending on clinical setting.

• Specialty unit nurse positions also require area specific specialty certification for the unit.
• Heart Health nurse positions also require demonstrated ability in arrhythmia interpretation as evidenced by a mark of 75% on the VIHA ECG Challenge exam.
