Working as part of a multidisciplinary care team in various community settings, the Crisis Services Nurse provides crisis intervention and stabilization, conducts nursing and clinical assessments, and offers consultation and referrals for clients presenting in person, by referral, or via the Crisis Services Network with mental health and/or alcohol and drug use crises.
Registered with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN or RPN. Recognized post-basic education related to psychiatric nursing and/or mental illness. At least two (2) years of recent related experience. Strong understanding of mental health, alcohol and drug use/withdrawal management, and concurrent disorder issues. Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act and the Guardianship Act. Familiarity with community programs related to mental health, addiction, and concurrent disorders. Skills in crisis intervention, triage, assessments, and change management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
