Position Overview

As a Crew Leader, you will lead a team to various job sites throughout the week, ensuring the work is completed correctly, on time, and safely. You will serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentoring to newer team members, helping them develop their understanding of the arboriculture profession. Additionally, you will work to provide an exceptional customer experience as the main point of contact for our clients.

Job Duties
  1. Safely and efficiently lead a crew in providing arboricultural care for clients.
  2. Direct crew members and equipment, as well as plan and execute assigned tasks.
  3. Supervise and assist in the maintenance, preparation, and operation of all tools and equipment, including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
  4. Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully.
  5. Include but are not limited to:
  • Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy.
  • Installation of cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
  • Removal of hazardous trees.
  • Providing expert tree trimming services and inspections to client properties.
  • Managing customer service expectations.
  • Abiding by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as an Arborist.
  • ISA certification or enrollment in an arboriculture program or equivalent.
  • Valid provincial driver’s license; licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle; air brake endorsement is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and safely direct a team in ascending tree canopies at various heights.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Strong skills in tree, knot, and shrub identification.
