Title: Credit Risk Analyst (Asset Managers/Regulated Funds)
Location: Montréal, QC H3A 2A6
Duration: 12 months
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present annual credit reviews and new requests to credit committees, including comprehensive analysis of the counterparty, comparison with peers, rating recommendations using internal models, and credit opinions.
- Analyze capital markets and corporate banking transactions involving regulated funds and agency principals, such as derivatives, repo, securities lending, prime services, trade finance, and syndicated loans.
- Coordinate all aspects of the credit risk process with Coverage, Business, and other Functions.
- Review counterparty credit exposure excesses reported by the Credit Risk Control team.
- Coordinate with Legal Department to execute legal documentation with credit-sensitive terms.
- Review legal documentation during annual reviews, ensuring all necessary documents are in place and familiar with ISDA/CSA, PSA/ISMA, and SLMA products.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Traders, Market Risk, Legal, and Operations to structure transactions mitigating various risks.
- Support credit requests and transactions across all business lines.
- Manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritizing requests with organizational skills.
- Participate in internal exercises to review exposures and ensure data quality.
- Stay updated on industry risks and trends, including credit, regulatory, and legal issues.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree, preferably in finance or economics.
- 5+ years of experience in capital markets or credit risk analysis.
- Self-motivated learner with interest in derivatives and capital markets products.
- Strong communication skills for expressing credit decisions confidently.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Team-oriented with ability to interact with analysts, relationship managers, and clients.
- Proficiency in Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of capital markets products and legal documentation (ISDA, CSA, GMRA).
- Formal credit training on funds within a financial institution.
- MS, MBA, CFA, or FRM certifications are advantageous.
