Reporting to the Risk Manager, Legal & Risk Management, the Credit Risk Analyst will be part of the Corporate Legal and Risk Group, focusing on subcontractor prequalification and supporting the administration of the subcontractor default insurance program. This is a junior role with growth potential into more senior positions.

This position is hybrid, based out of one of our offices across Canada, including Calgary, Edmonton, Richmond, Victoria, Mississauga, Winnipeg, Halifax, Ottawa, Regina, St. John’s, and Montreal.

What You Will Be Working On

Risk Management

• Perform comprehensive analysis of potential subcontractors/suppliers to ensure their financial capacity, experience, and operational resources meet project-specific criteria.
• Coordinate prequalification of subcontractors for the subcontractor default insurance program based on corporate risk appetites and growth objectives.
• Adhere to subcontractor/supplier management protocols to oversee performance.
• Respond to inquiries regarding the insurance program.
• Support tracking notices to subcontractors and reporting to insurers for enrollment and billing.
• Assist in gathering insurance renewal information and submission packages.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Relationship Management

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote responsible risk management and compliance.
• Build collaborative relationships with subcontractors/suppliers emphasizing confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.

What We Are Looking For

• Undergraduate degree, diploma, or relevant work experience in accounting, business, credit risk, credit management, surety, or insurance.
• Experience in risk management or surety underwriting, preferably in construction or subcontractor risk management.
• Understanding of financial statements, analysis, and accounting principles is an asset.
• Willingness to learn new methods and adapt.
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills, especially with large data sets and Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Compass prequalification software is an asset.
