Job description

Who Are You?

You’re a strong writer and storyteller who’s ready to think beyond the words on the page. You’re curious about the why behind the work, who we’re talking to, what matters to them, what makes a brand different, and how to turn those insights into a clear, compelling creative idea. You enjoy collaborating with others, asking thoughtful questions, and bringing ideas to the table. You’re excited to grow beyond content execution into creative strategy, campaign development, and brand thinking, while still using your writing skills to bring great ideas to life.

What's the Role?

We're looking for a strong content writer who's ready to take their skills further into marketing strategy. Maybe you've spent the last few years writing websites, ads, blogs, emails, social content, or campaign copy. Maybe you've also found yourself increasingly interested in the thinking behind the work.

What's the real message? Who are we talking to? What makes this brand different? What's the big idea? How should that idea come to life across different channels?

As a Creative Content Strategist, you'll bring both strong writing and strategic thinking to our clients' marketing. You'll develop and refine content while also helping shape the messaging, creative direction, and strategy behind it. You'll work alongside Account Managers, marketing strategists, and other creatives to develop messaging, campaigns, creative briefs, brand standards, and scalable content systems.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as a creative and storytelling partner for assigned clients, developing a strong understanding of their brand, audience, positioning, goals, and marketing needs.

  • Help develop creative campaigns, leading the content side through positioning, unique value propositions, campaign concepts, taglines, messaging, and storytelling across audiences and channels.

  • Establish and maintain voice, tone, messaging, and content standards that keep client marketing consistent and recognizable across channels

  • Write, edit, and refine high-quality marketing content across formats and channels

  • Use campaign and content performance, client feedback, and market insights to refine messaging and creative direction over time.

  • Provide guidance, feedback, and coaching to writers, contractors, and other production partners to help strengthen strategic and creative quality.

  • Stay current with evolving content, accessibility, industry and marketing best practices, and bring relevant learnings into client work and team processes.

  • Support the development and evolution of creative strategy processes, tools, and workflows across the Creative Services team.

Required Experience & Skills
  • Legally able to work in Canada

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality marketing copy and storytelling across multiple formats or channels.

  • A strong grasp of North American English grammar, punctuation, syntax, and editing fundamentals.

  • Working knowledge of SEO, paid media, social media, email marketing, and digital content best practices.

  • A firm grasp of accessibility in content.

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt voice, tone, and messaging across different brands, audiences, and marketing objectives.

  • Strong understanding of marketing fundamentals, including target audiences, customer journeys, positioning, differentiation, value propositions, calls to action, and brand consistency.

  • Strong conceptual thinking, with the ability to look beyond an individual piece of copy and identify the larger idea or story behind the work.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with Account Managers, designers, strategists, and production teams.

  • Comfortable presenting ideas, explaining creative decisions, and giving and receiving constructive feedback.

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple clients, priorities, and projects in a fast-paced agency environment.

We put just as much care into supporting our team as we do our clients, creating an environment where people feel trusted, supported, and inspired to do their best work.

At POD, culture isn’t about perks (though we have those too). It’s about how you feel at work: accepted for who you are, encouraged to grow, and surrounded by people who want to see you succeed. That approach has earned us multiple awards, including recognition as one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures.

You’ll enjoy three weeks of paid vacation, twelve flex days, a Passion Day to spend however you choose, and a company-wide MeMonday to prioritize mental health. We offer a thirty-day remote work policy for when you need a change of scenery, twenty-six hours of paid volunteer time each year, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, and spending accounts.

Growth and development are also a priority at POD. You’ll have access to our mentorship program, our in-house leadership development program, DiSC communication training, and ongoing learning opportunities designed to help you grow your skills and career. You’ll also have regular one-on-one check-ins, quarterly performance conversations, and a culture of continuous feedback that keeps you supported and clear on expectations.

Our downtown Calgary office is bright, modern, and stocked with good coffee, snacks, and great people. We offer discounts with local vendors and a culture that’s collaborative, energetic, and built on trust and respect.
