Job summary

AIM Recycling in Lac-Mégantic is seeking a Crane Operator (Material Handler) to join our team. You will move, handle, and load materials with a material handler, and assist with yard activities including sorting and receiving metals.

Depending on needs, you may operate a loader or forklift and help with other tasks in an outdoor industrial setting. The role requires experience with heavy equipment, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to work in a dynamic outdoor environment.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment (crane, loader, forklift).
• Able to work outdoors in a physically demanding environment.
• Strong teamwork and safety focus.
• Valid Class 5 driver’s licence (asset).
• Experience in a scrap yard or recycling environment (asset).

Responsibilities

• Operate a material handler to move, handle, and load materials.
• Sort and identify metals using testing and magnets; assess non-marketable materials.
• Receive, unload, and move metals to designated areas.
• Inspect the quality of incoming and handled materials.
• Move and organize bins containing non-ferrous materials throughout the yard.
• Operate other equipment (crane, loader, forklift) as needed.
• Load ferrous materials for customers.
• Perform daily yard tasks including sorting, handling, and organizing materials.

Job Description

• Proactive, hands-on approach to work;
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence (strong asset);
• Experience in a scrap yard or recycling environment (strong asset).
