Teaching Qualification Requirements (TQRs)
  • Education
    • 1. MA in a relevant field (i.e. science education) and/or extensive relevant experience as a school educator/pedagogue/community educator
    • 2. PhD or equivalent in a relevant field is an asset
  • Experience
    • 1. Expert knowledge of:
      • Secondary science pedagogy, as outlined in the course description
      • Scientific content and practices related to the secondary science curricula
      • Research on secondary science pedagogy
      • Research on secondary students' scientific thinking and practice
    • 2. Experience as a master teacher/instructor in science, mathematics, or a related field in the Quebec educational system
    • 3. Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program (QEP)
    • 4. Familiarity with the 13 professional competencies specified by the Ministère de l’Éducation.
  • Other
    • 1. Previous successful experience teaching similar course(s) at the undergraduate or graduate level
    • 2. Knowledge of the impact and proven record integrating pedagogical approaches anchored to equity, diversity and inclusion
    • 3. Familiarity using myCourses, ZOOM and other similar online platforms to facilitate quality teaching and learning experiences
    • 4. Familiarity teaching blended classes is an asset
    • 5. Familiarity with the application of a variety of digital teaching and learning tools
    • 6. Familiarity of and/or experience with practice-based pedagogies in science teacher education is an asset.

  • 1. Commitment to working with a team of committed and engaged instructors
  • 2. Must be available to attend course coordination and planning meeting minimum of 2 weeks in advance of course start date
