Job description

Position Job Title: Course Developer - Project Management

Location: Niagara Falls, Ontario

Reports To: Associate Dean, BBA

Primary Purpose

The University of Niagara Falls Canada is seeking a versatile and experienced Courseware Developer. Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE), you will collaborate with the CTE team, including the Senior Instructional Designer, and other academic and administrative units across UNF. Your role involves developing interactive, research-grounded multimedia educational elements for courses and programs. The position requires excellent soft skills for effective teamwork, innovation, independent project management, and leadership in multimedia development and data strategies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for troubleshooting and proactive challenge mitigation.

Compensation: $7,200 per course (paid over a 10-week contract)

Specific Responsibilities
General Duties:
  1. Design and develop interactive courseware aligned with instructional objectives.
  2. Create course materials and curricula that meet learning goals.
  3. Develop e-learning modules, videos, simulations, and assessments.
  4. Use eLearning authoring tools to produce multimedia-rich content.
  5. Integrate multimedia elements to enhance interactivity.
  6. Manage multiple development projects simultaneously.
  7. Conduct quality assurance reviews for accuracy and standards compliance.
  8. Develop project plans, monitor progress, and adhere to deadlines.
  9. Collaborate with project teams to understand training needs.
  10. Participate in meetings, sharing insights on development strategies.
  11. Stay informed on industry trends and emerging educational technologies.
  12. Apply innovative approaches to improve learning experiences.
  13. Ensure content responsiveness across devices and platforms.
  14. Guarantee accessibility and responsive design within LMS elements.
  15. Collaborate with CTE colleagues to develop courses, workshops, and support materials for faculty development.
  16. Support CTE’s mission in program, course, and faculty development.
  17. Represent CTE in program development project teams.
Technical Skills
  1. Design curricula aligned with PMP/PMBOK standards and industry outcomes.
  2. Manage courses within LMS platforms like D2L Brightspace, Moodle, or Canvas.
  3. Apply UDL principles and accessibility standards (Ontario postsecondary standards).
  4. Use pedagogical frameworks such as Bloom’s Taxonomy, backward design, and constructivism.
  5. Implement flipped classroom and blended learning strategies.
  6. Gather stakeholder feedback to improve courseware.
  7. Develop metrics and data recording processes for CTE goals.
  8. Maintain documentation for technical processes and customizations.
  9. Ensure data security and regulatory compliance.

  4. Proficiency with course development tools and LMS platforms (Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard).
  5. Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive design.
  6. Understanding of copyright and intellectual property issues related to online content.
