I help leaders within the global construction and real estate market secure top tier contract management and legal talent!

Overview

Our client is a leading global construction group ranked among the top 20 worldwide for civil and infrastructure works. With an annual turnover exceeding $14 billion and a workforce of over 80,000 employees, they have established a strong international presence and are now expanding their operations in Canada.

Following significant investment in the region, they are seeking to appoint a Country Contract Manager to support their growing Canadian project portfolio. This critical leadership role will sit within the Overseas Contract & Legal Department and be based in Canada. The successful candidate will take ownership of contract and claims management across multiple infrastructure projects, while driving strategic alignment between project teams, commercial leadership, and the wider business.

You

You will come from an engineering, or quantity surveying background, ideally with 10+ years of experience managing complex contract frameworks on large-scale infrastructure or civil construction projects. You’ll have demonstrable expertise in leading contract strategy, managing claims, and resolving disputes as well as litigation, mediation and arbitration procedures.

Experience working with FIDIC and similar standard contracts is essential. Familiarity with international and multi-jurisdictional operations, particularly within North America, will be highly valued. Strong communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders across technical and commercial teams will be key.

Additionally, you will be ideally fluent in both English and French.

Main responsibilities will be:

  • Contractual & Claims Oversight: Lead the contract management function across multiple infrastructure projects in Canada. Manage risk, variation orders, and dispute resolution processes, ensuring all contractual obligations are understood and upheld.
  • Strategic Contract Planning: Advise project leadership on contract strategy and execution from early-stage planning through to project delivery and closure.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the main point of contact for external stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and legal counsel on all contractual matters.
  • System & Procedure Leadership: Lead the development, optimization, and implementation of contract management systems and procedures across Canadian operations.
  • Claims & Dispute Management: Proactively manage historical and emerging claims, ensuring robust documentation and resolution in line with company and project objectives.
