Job summary

EBC Inc. is seeking an experienced cost controller to manage the cost control cycle across major infrastructure projects in Canada. The role emphasizes budgeting, cost tracking, and schedule control within our PM systems.

You will evaluate change requests, coordinate with the project team, and provide accurate forecasts and dashboards to leadership. A degree in Administration, Finance, or Engineering and 5 years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar cost control/project controls role.
  • English required; bilingualism is an asset.
  • Strong IT skills including MS Excel and relevant project controls software.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the cost control cycle from budgeting through tracking costs and schedules in the project system.
  • Compute initial budget from proposals and monitor hours, expenses, and cost updates.
  • Evaluate changes, communicate impacts to stakeholders, and track forecasts and risks.
  • Prepare status reports, executive summaries, and dashboards for timely performance updates.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the cost control cycle throughout the project execution, by setting up projects/mandates, tracking budgets and schedules, within the project management system;
  • Calculate the initial budget on the basis of the proposal;
  • Ensure tracking of hours, expenses, costs and budget updates;
  • Monitor changes and coordination with the project team;
  • Evaluate change requests, evaluate their impact on project objectives and communicate changes to stakeholders;
  • Ensure and manage the project progress monitoring with discipline managers, including cost and schedule controls;
  • Ensure follow-up with project managers on regular updates of project forecasts, including periodic assistance in the estimation of remaining project costs, as well as necessary provisions and risks;
  • Records and resolves issues relating to project budgets and schedules;
  • Ensure the quality of prepared project status reports, executive summaries, and dashboards to provide timely updates on performance.
Requirements
  • Degree in Administration, Finance, or Engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in the construction industry;
  • Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required;
  • Strong personal IT skills (MS Office suite) and relevant software skills specific to project controls.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is $75,000–$115,000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
