Job summary

EBC Inc. is a leading contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across Canada. The company seeks a skilled project controls professional to manage budgeting, cost tracking, and schedule oversight within a dynamic project team.

Responsibilities include budget calculation from proposals, monitoring hours and expenses, and maintaining quality status reports and dashboards. A degree in administration/finance/engineering and 5+ years of construction experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Administration, Finance, or Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in construction.
  • Bilingual is an asset, but proficiency in English with excellent communication skills is required.
  • Strong IT skills (MS Office) and project controls software knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the cost control cycle throughout project execution, setting up projects/mandates and tracking budgets and schedules.
  • Calculate the initial budget based on the proposal.
  • Ensure tracking of hours, expenses, costs and budget updates.
  • Monitor changes and coordinate with the project team.
  • Evaluate change requests and communicate impact on objectives to stakeholders.
  • Oversee progress monitoring with discipline managers, including cost and schedule controls.
  • Assist in estimating remaining project costs and risk provisions.
  • Record and resolve issues related to budgets and schedules.
  • Ensure quality of status reports, executive summaries, and dashboards.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the cost control cycle throughout the project execution, by setting up projects/mandates, tracking budgets and schedules, within the project management system;
  • Calculate the initial budget on the basis of the proposal;
  • Ensure tracking of hours, expenses, costs and budget updates;
  • Monitor changes and coordination with the project team;
  • Evaluate change requests, evaluate their impact on project objectives and communicate changes to stakeholders;
  • Ensure and manage the project progress monitoring with discipline managers, including cost and schedule controls;
  • Ensure follow-up with project managers on regular updates of project forecasts, including periodic assistance in the estimation of remaining project costs, as well as necessary provisions and risks;
  • Records and resolves issues relating to project budgets and schedules;
  • Ensure the quality of prepared project status reports, executive summaries, and dashboards to provide timely updates on performance.
Requirements
  • Degree in Administration, Finance, or Engineering;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position, preferably in the construction industry;
  • Bilingual (an asset), but proficiency in English language with excellent communication skills (written and verbal) is required;
  • Strong personal IT skills (MS Office suite) and relevant software skills specific to project controls.

In accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation, EBC Inc. has included the expected salary range for this role, which is $75,000–$115,000. Compensation within the range is determined based on relevant experience, qualifications, localization, and internal equity. Base salary is one component of EBC’s comprehensive total rewards offering, which may include performance-based incentives, extended health and wellness benefits, retirement savings programs, and career development opportunities.
