Canada Packers Inc. in Brandon, MB, is seeking a Cost Analyst to support the operations team. You will provide performance measurement, prepare yield and downtime reports, and help drive manufacturing improvements.

The role requires accounting education, strong Excel and SAP skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with finance, operations and engineering. You will be on-site with a values-based culture and opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide detailed yield analytics to management for decision making.
• Ensure accurate reporting and daily yield reports for manufacturing.
• Investigate and resolve yield discrepancies, carryover and production issues.
• Maintain controls for accurate manufacturing performance reporting.
• Enter SAP transactions via front-end templates.
• Record purchased kill credits in SAP.
• Investigate hog weight/quantity discrepancies on the front end.
• Calculate weekly boning percentages.
• Prepare weekly/monthly downtime reports for period end.
• Serve as yield SME, assist foreman on yield reporting; spend time on the floor to build relationships.
• Support BOM changes.
• Provide financial analysis for BOM changes.
• Assist with annual labour, yield and packaging standards.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering and finance to improve procedures.
• Familiar with new SKU processes; ensure new SKUs are set up correctly.
• Monitor rework and ensure BPCS entries are complete.
• Participate in the finance buddy program and assist with period end duties.

About This Opportunity

The Cost Analyst (CA) provides support to the Brandon operations team. The CA is responsible for operations performance measurement and plays a key role in supporting manufacturing initiatives. As a member of the Finance team, the CA will take part in overhead management, weekly and period end reporting and play a key role in providing the right information to plant management for the best decisions to be made.

Responsibilities

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide detailed yield/manufacturing analytics to management for decision making purposes.
• Ensure all information is correctly reported and provide a daily yield report to manufacturing.
• Investigate and correct, if necessary, any yield discrepancies, carryover, production.
• Ensure controls are in place to correctly report manufacturing performance.
• Populate front-end transaction template and input transactions into SAP.
• Transact purchased kill credits into SAP.
• Investigate front end hog weight/quantity in discrepancies.
• Calculate weekly boning percentages.
• Prepare downtime reports weekly and monthly for period end schedule.
• Be a yield subject matter expert and assist manufacturing foreman in their understanding of yield. reporting. Spend time on the floor with foreman and develop a close working relationship.
• Provide support and assistance with Bill of Material changes.
• Provide financial analysis on Bill of Material change requests.
• Assist with and input yearly labour, yield, packaging standards.
• Work with manufacturing/engineering/finance to put in place more efficient and accurate procedures.
• Be familiar with new SKU process and assist in ensuring all new sku’s are set up correctly.
• Monitor Rework and ensure all entries into BPCS are complete.
• As part of Finance team participate in “finance buddy” program as well as assist in period end duties where required.

Position Outcomes

• Critical daily, weekly and monthly deadlines are met, and accurate and timely reporting provided.
• Overhead management support provided to Assigned Budget Manager.
• Support Plant Continuous Improvement projects and achievement plant targets.

Skills & Experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Post-secondary education in an Accounting program.

Required Skills And Knowledge

• Proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP environment is an asset.
• The ability to work cross-functionally.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong leadership and team building skills.
