Job summary

Brandt is seeking a Cost Accountant for our Regina, SK location. You will analyze costs across materials, labor, and overhead, prepare reports, and work with engineering and manufacturing to develop cost standards.

The role requires CPA designation with 3 years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing, strong Excel, and solid understanding of accounting principles, with on-site collaboration and cross-functional teamwork.

Qualifications

  • CPA designation with three years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with engineering and manufacturing personnel on development and analysis of cost standards.
  • Strong cost systems background with excellent analytical and advanced Excel skills.
  • Sound understanding of accounting principles.
  • A high level of written and oral communication skills and a strong sense of business ethics are required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, study, and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor, and overhead.
  • Analyze data collected and recording results.
  • Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
  • Analyze actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs including but not limited to purchase price to cost variance, cost revaluation, invoice to PO price variances and work order variances.
  • Ensure process integrity within Manufacturing, Intercompany, and Inventory while working with cross-functional peers to resolve process issues.
  • Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures.
  • Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports.
  • Making estimates of new and proposed product costs.
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services.
  • Review and analysis of new product costing in conjunction with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Maintaining cost accounting system.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and monitors cycle count program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Be Responsible For

Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor, and overhead.
