Job description

iSpice Foods is a leading North American based importer, processor and supplier of the best quality peppers and spices from around the world. With its headquarter located in Montreal, iSpice Foods operates multiple facilities in the USA. Growing organically and through acquisitions, iSpice Foods strives for excellence in serving.

Summary:

This role reports directly to the Corporate Controller of the business and is responsible for providing cost reduction reporting, cost control and financial planning. This position is on site 5 days, not remote.

Major responsibilities include:

1. Prepare, analyze, and report periodically gross margin analysis by item codes and by customer type.
2. Analyze inventory valuation and inventory roll forward.
3. Conduct costing/pricing analysis for new products/projects.
4. Coordinate with IT, accounting, and production departments to ensure all work orders are closed, receiving and shipping are completed at month-end.
5. Analyze cost accounting data and assist with cycle count/physical inventories.
6. Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls.
7. Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost, inventory, and liability accounts by customer type and division.
8. Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research, and perform analytical studies regarding cost analyses and profitability.
9. Ensure timely submission, accuracy, and validity of inventory and gross margin schedules to management.
10. Any other costing/pricing related functions that may arise.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. Proven experience as a Cost Accountant or similar role for at least 3 years.
3. Ability to apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles & Cost Accounting Standards.
4. Ability to research, compile, analyze, and interpret data.
5. Good written, verbal communication, and collaborative skills.
6. Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office products.
7. Ability to analyze and reconcile complex accounts and reserves.
8. Strong organizational and communication skills.
9. Detail-oriented.
10. Knowledge of ERP systems.
11. Food manufacturing background preferred.
12. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
