Site Description:

Mackenzie Health's hospitals—Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital and Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital—offer comprehensive emergency, outpatient, and specialized services, including mental health and stroke programs at Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, and outpatient clinics at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital.

Position Details:

• Position: Full-Time Security Guard
• Site: Cortellucci Hospital
• Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
• Hours: Continental Rotation - 0700-1900/1900-0700
• Payrate: $18.73/hour
• Internal Posting Date: May 6, 2025
• Internal Closing Date: May 13, 2025
• External Closing Date: May 20, 2025

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patrol hospital grounds, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits.
2. Monitor surveillance systems and report suspicious activities.
3. Control access to restricted areas, ensuring only authorized personnel enter.
4. Respond promptly to emergencies, assist staff during crises and evacuations.
5. Provide customer service to visitors, patients, and staff, including giving directions and enforcing policies.
6. De-escalate conflicts and resolve tense situations professionally.
7. Accurately document incidents, activities, and security concerns.
8. Collaborate with hospital staff and law enforcement to ensure safety.
9. Enforce hospital policies and address violations appropriately.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for Ontario
• First Aid & CPR Level C
• Covid-19 vaccination (two doses)
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, and two-step TB skin test
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• Previous security, law enforcement, or related experience preferred
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) or willingness to train
• Legal authorization to work in Canada
