Job summary

Ontario Public Service (Monteith Correctional Complex) is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to provide comprehensive nursing care within an unconventional setting. You will work with an inter-professional health care team to deliver medications, monitor patients, and document health information in a secure facility.

The role requires current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario, with 40 hours per week on rotating shifts in a 24/7 health unit.

Qualifications

• Provide full scope of nursing services to patients with defined needs and predicable outcomes.
• Collect, interpret and evaluate health information from patients and other sources.
• Evaluate responses to planned interventions and contribute to treatment plans.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer medications.
• Monitor effects and adverse effects of medications and treatments.
• Report observations to physicians and other nurses.
• Respond to emergencies and urgent care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and charts.
• Maintain a safe, clean environment and collaborate with correctional professionals.
