Job summary

Objective and Purpose

This role broadly supports the legal function. It involves administration and legal review under the supervision of a lawyer.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Managing the review and revision of contracts, and any amendments required after signature
  • Maintaining the intellectual property portfolio; corresponding with external counsel
  • Understanding the cannabis regulatory landscape; supporting licence applications and renewals
  • Supporting litigation by organizing files, summarizing documents, and providing instructions
  • Project managing and reporting relating to corporate matters, such as amalgamations, etc.
  • Maintaining organization of the shared Legal document management system
  • Tracking and managing contract renewals and expiries
  • Handling day-to-day corporate and legal matters as they arise

All under the supervision of a lawyer

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Paralegal Diploma
  • 5+ years of experience, preferably a combination of law firm training and in-house exposure

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and using virtual data rooms to organize and upload documents
  • Clear and concise written and oral communication
  • Strong organizational planning and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Legal research
  • Comfort with a fast-paced and dynamic industry and working environment
