Join a Vancouver-based real estate developer where you'll lead a high-performing team, influence strategy, and help shape the next phase of growth.
Your New Employer
Your new employer is an established Vancouver-based real estate developer with a track record of delivering large-scale residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects. Known for having an excellent working culture, this group has a strong pipeline of projects and offers fantastic career growth for motivated professionals.
Your New Role
As Corporate Controller reporting to the VP, Finance, you will oversee all aspects of corporate finance, including consolidated accounting, financial reporting, treasury, tax compliance, and corporate administration across a multi-entity organization. You’ll manage the month-end close and quarterly reporting cycles, lead annual assurance engagements, and deliver timely financial insights through internal reports, KPI dashboards, and executive summaries. Working closely with project teams, you’ll ensure financial data aligns with operational activity.
You’ll also lead tax strategy and compliance, including hands-on work with provision calculations, filings, and audits, while managing treasury functions such as cash flow forecasting and banking relationships. Your efforts will help ensure optimal liquidity and funding across the organization.
A key focus of the role will be process improvement. You’ll evaluate current systems, lead automation initiatives, and implement scalable controls and SOPs to support accuracy, efficiency, and risk management. Your proactive mindset will be instrumental in driving systems upgrades and data-informed decision-making.
In addition, you’ll oversee payroll and support HR with compensation planning, policy development, benefits administration, and compliance. You’ll work cross-functionally to ensure internal practices are current, practical, and aligned with the company’s values.
People leadership is central to this role. You’ll develop and mentor a team of 7–10, bringing structure, accountability, and mentorship to a high-performing group. You’ll foster a collaborative culture and play a hands-on role in recruiting, onboarding, and team development to support the department’s continued growth.
What Sets You Apart
You’re a CPA-designated professional with a strong foundation in accounting and several years of progressive experience, including time spent in a leadership role—ideally as a Controller or someone who’s already handled Controller-level responsibilities. You’ve worked in complex, multi-entity environments and bring a solid understanding of GAAP, tax compliance, treasury, and financial reporting. Experience in real estate development, construction, or property management is a definite asset.
You’re someone who can be trusted to lead a team, manage priorities, and keep things moving without needing constant oversight. You’re a strong communicator who knows how to delegate, coach, and build confidence across your team. You have a keen eye for detail, but you don’t get stuck in it—you know when to zoom out and focus on what’s most important. You’re comfortable in a fast-paced environment and thrive when given autonomy. You’re also systems-savvy, with experience using platforms like Yardi, Sage, or NetSuite, and you’re always looking for ways to work smarter through automation and process improvements.
What You Can Expect
In this role, you’ll step into a leadership position with real influence across the organization. You’ll have the autonomy to take ownership of your function, supported by a collaborative team that values transparency and initiative. It’s a chance to build a high-performing team, lead process improvements, and bring structure to a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
