Qualifications

• LLB/J.D. from an accredited law school and member in good standing with the Law Society of British Columbia;
• 3+ years of corporate commercial experience;
• Strong research and drafting skills;
• Ability to manage a significant practice;
• Confident at engaging and interacting with clients;
• Exceptional work ethic,
• Client service oriented and team player; and
• Excellent attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Manage a broad range of corporate commercial matters with increasing autonomy;
• Conduct legal research and provide practical legal advice;
• Draft, review and negotiate corporate and commercial agreements;
• Assist with corporate reorganizations, transactions and related matters;
• Conduct due diligence and prepare transaction documentation;
• Manage delegated files from senior lawyers;
• Communicate directly with clients and provide responsive, practical service;
• Work collaboratively with lawyers and legal support staff across Vancouver, Langley and West Vancouver locations;
• Maintain appropriate file management, billing and time-entry practices;
• Contribute to the continued growth and development of the firm’s corporate commercial practice.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Corporate Commercial Associate to join our growing business law practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer who enjoys advising businesses and individuals on a broad range of corporate, commercial, and transactional matters and who is looking to develop their practice in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment.

While not an exhaustive list, the successful candidate can expect the following key responsibilities:

• Manage a broad range of corporate commercial matters with increasing autonomy;
• Conduct legal research and provide practical legal advice;
• Draft, review and negotiate corporate and commercial agreements;
• Assist with corporate reorganizations, transactions and related matters;
• Conduct due diligence and prepare transaction documentation;
• Manage delegated files from senior lawyers;
• Communicate directly with clients and provide responsive, practical service;
• Work collaboratively with lawyers and legal support staff across Vancouver, Langley and West Vancouver locations;

In addition to working on files directly with Partners who take an active role in mentoring and training lawyers, the Associate will be provided the opportunity to manage their own files and will be provided with the resources to develop their own practice.

Additional required experience:

Compensation:

While compensation is commensurate with experience, the base annual salary range for candidates with the required experience is expected to be $130,000 - $160,000.
