Job Description

Who We Are

Fidelity Clearing Canada (FCC) was founded in 2009 to provide execution, clearing, custody, and back-office support services to Canadian-based brokerage firms and the Canadian brokerage arms of global firms. As a leader in the independent clearing broker and custodian marketplace, FCC has grown to become the second-largest clearing firm in Canada with $13 billion CAD in assets under administration.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Team Manager, this role is a subject matter expert in all corporate actions, income, and proxy events for securities held domestically and internationally, across multiple systems. Responsibilities include researching and resolving complex issues, processing corporate actions, reviewing tax implications, analyzing and completing legal documentation, reducing firm exposure, processing market claims, handling escalations, interacting with clients, and maintaining relationships with issuers, depositories, brokers, and counterparties.

What You Will Do
  • Perform and oversee department transactions, including processing corporate action events and entitlements payments from paying agents or depositories.
  • Record and process Dividend Reinvestment Plans (DRIP).
  • Process payments for Canadian securities and handle physical exchanges for privately held securities, including preparing proxies.
  • Manage complex/high-risk transactions requiring multiple system touchpoints.
  • Ensure accuracy of all announcements related to offers, researching discrepancies as needed.
  • Act as a point of contact for procedural and process questions.
  • Assist management in reviewing and controlling department risks and controls.
  • Lead or participate in projects to improve efficiency and adapt to market changes, serving as SME on related committees.
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients, including brokers, agents, and issuers.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and third parties.
  • Follow policies and procedures to maintain controls and assist in creating process improvements.
  • Monitor key control reports and participate in initiatives and conversions.
The Experience You Bring
  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Over 5 years of experience in securities/brokerage industry, with at least 3 years in corporate actions processing.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial transactions, settlements, and corporate actions/income.
  • Familiarity with reconciliation methodologies and standards.
  • Knowledge of Dataphile is an asset.
  • Enrolled or completed the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or IFIC course is an asset.
