We are looking for a highly motivated accountant to join our corporate accounting group as an integral member of our finance team. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, open to new challenges, have excellent communication skills, and possess experience in accounting or a professional accounting designation (CPA) or be enrolled in the CPA program.

As part of the corporate accounting group, you will provide analytical and accounting support on various topics, while learning all components of our accounting cycles. This is a developmental position with the expectation that the successful candidate will relocate within 1 to 2 years to one of our BC or Alberta operating divisions to further their career as a divisional Plant Accountant or Controller.

Responsibilities:

1. Preparation and processing of various month-end duties including journal entries, financial statement packages, related mandatory reporting, and general ledger reconciliations.
2. Detailed financial analysis.
3. Ensuring adherence to standards and procedures.
4. Gaining exposure to various areas of our business operations including accounts payable, payroll, logging, sales, fixed assets, and inventory.
5. Review of accounting working papers.
6. Participate in user testing and maintenance for financial systems.
7. Summarization and distribution of daily operating statistics.
8. Ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

1. A background in accounting.

Assets include:

1. Professional accounting designation (CPA) or enrollment in the CPA program.
