Job description

We are looking for a Corporate Accountant to join our Corporate - Financeteam in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, you will be will be responsible for key components of the financial reporting cycle including preparation of the consolidated financial statements. Outside of the reporting process, this individual will play a key role in ongoing process improvement, tax planning and compliance and will work closely with the finance and operations teams within the Calgary head office.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements including note disclosures, MD&A and Annual Information Form
  • Preparation of corporate accounting entries and balance sheet reconciliations to facilitate the month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for management and Board of Trustees
  • Assist in the annual audit and quarterly review process with the external auditors
  • Contribute to process improvements and automation efforts
  • Ad-hoc projects and analysis as required

Qualifications:

  • Designated accountant or CPA student
  • 2+ year post designation experience
  • A solid understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools, particularly Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, team player and possessing a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and work within deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Yardi (real-estate software) experience considered an asset
  • Tax experience considered an asset
