Job summary

Discovery Silver in Timmins, Ontario seeks an Exploration Technician to support geologists with drill core orientation, sample collection, and field activities. This 12-month site-based role offers a 7x7 schedule and requires safety awareness.

Responsibilities include recording measurements, QA/QC procedures, and maintaining site housekeeping. Candidates should have a Secondary School Diploma and some mining exploration experience; MS Excel/Word skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Geologic knowledge and experience in exploration/mining environments.
• 1-2 years exploration/mining experience, preferably in gold.
• Physically fit and able to work indoors and outdoors.
• Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word).
• Demonstrated leadership and open, timely communication.

Responsibilities

• Orient drill core to determine recoveries and discrepancies; record readings and photographs.
• Conduct field activities including DDH spotting and sample collection.
• Receive/unload diamond drill core; organize and store promptly.
• Saw, collect samples, and record density measurements; insert QA/QC standards and blanks.
• Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.

The Position

Perform a variety of technical duties in assistance to exploration geologists.

Safety & Sustainability Expectations

• Accountable for own health and safety performance. Maintain Triple Zero standards. Timely reporting, correction, of any unsafe working or environmental conditions.
• Ongoing IRS awareness.
• Conduct work site inspections.
• Ensures activities will not cause unsafe working situations to others or the environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Orienting drill core to determine recoveries and/or discrepancies. Recording magnetic susceptibility readings and taking core photographs.
• Conduct numerous field activities such as DDH spotting, sample collection, etc.
• Receiving and unloading diamond drill core from drilling contractor. Timely organization and storage.
• Sawing, collecting samples, and taking density measurements. Insertion and recording of QA-QC standards and blanks.
• Maintain good housekeeping in work areas.

Skills And Qualifications

• Secondary School Diploma
• Considerable accumulation of geologic knowledge, processes gained through long-term employment in the exploration industry.
• 1-2 years exploration/mining experience, preferably within gold exploration/mining environment.
• Physically fit, willing and able to work indoors and outdoors.
• Working knowledge of MS software applications such as excel, word.
• Leadership Experience – Nature & Length
• Communicates openly, honestly, in a timely manner.

This is a site based position in Timmins, ON

The expected duration is 12 months

Additional Information

Competitive total compensation package including:

• Annual total compensation of CAD$81,476 to CAD$100,647
