Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate production activities across the processing value chain to support safe, efficient operations.
  • Develop daily and weekly production plans aligned with maintenance requirements and targets.
  • Work with supervisors and stakeholders to align priorities and ensure effective execution.
  • Monitor performance and conditions to improve recovery and efficiency.
  • Escalate bottlenecks and plan handovers between shifts to maintain continuity.

The Challenge Ahead

We are seeking a highly motivated and safety-focused Coordinator Surface Production to join the Surface Production team of the Asset Operations. The Coordinator Surface Production plays a key role in leading daily production activities across the processing plant and surface operations, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations while supporting production targets and continuous improvement initiatives.


The successful candidate will provide leadership to front-line operations, coordinate operational activities, and collaborate with maintenance, technical, and planning teams to optimize plant performance and achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate production activities across the processing value chain to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Develop and coordinate daily and weekly production plans aligned with maintenance requirements and operational targets.
  • Work closely with supervisors and stakeholders to align priorities and ensure effective production execution.
  • Monitor processing performance and operating conditions to improve recovery, optimize inputs, and support achievement of production targets.
  • Identify emerging bottlenecks, resource constraints, risks, and operational conflicts, escalating issues before they impact performance.
  • Facilitate operating mode reviews and support decision-making when constraints or production priorities change.
  • Coordinate communication and response plans for operational variances and ensure effective handover between shifts.
  • Ensure operational events, variances, and lessons learned are documented and incorporated into future planning and improvement initiatives.
  • Track operational performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency, and product quality.
  • Promote compliance with operational procedures, work instructions, risk management processes, and safety standards.
  • Demonstrate visible leadership in the field while supporting a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

You are an experienced production or operations professional with a strong understanding of complex industrial environments and a passion for delivering safe and sustainable outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, heavy industry, or a similar operational environment.
  • Post-secondary education in Mining, Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent operational experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience coordinating teams, activities, and operational priorities to achieve production and business objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of safe work practices, hazard identification, operational risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience supporting production execution, work prioritization, risk management, and operational performance improvement initiatives.
  • The ability to analyze operational data and use digital systems to support decision-making, performance monitoring, and problem-solving.
  • Well-developed planning, prioritization, and resource coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing operational demands.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities with the ability to work effectively across operational, maintenance, planning, and technical functions.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on safety, operational performance, customer value, quality, and efficiency.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and operational reporting systems.
  • Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver's Licence or equivalent.

Work Location

This position is based at our Jansen Mine Site in Leroy, SK, offering a rotational schedule of7 days on followed by 7 days off. For those not living locally, BHP provides relocationassistanceto the local Jansen area. Alternatively, you can enjoy the convenience and comfort of our onsite camp accommodation at Discovery Lodge during your shifts.
