As the Coordinator, Program Support, you’ll play a vital role in preparing the region for emergencies by supporting the planning, training, and coordination that keeps our residents and services protected.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the Region’s Emergency Management Program through planning, coordinating, and participating in training sessions, emergency exercises, and the development of emergency and business continuity plans.
  • Contribute to meaningful projects by conducting research, analyzing data, and documenting key findings that improve our emergency response capabilities.
  • Be ready to step in when it matters most, with on-call duties during significant events or emergencies.
  • Build strong partnerships with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and effective delivery of emergency preparedness initiatives.
  • Keep the team moving forward by providing essential administrative and coordination support to the Emergency Management team.

What You Bring

  • A diploma, or certificate in Business Continuity, Business Administration, Emergency Management program or related field
  • Three years related experience in emergency management program development, including training, exercises, plan development, and public education
  • Project and change management training preferred (PMI/PDUs)
  • Understanding of Ontario's Incident Management System and Business Continuity Planning best practices
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams/SharePoint is preferred
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Excellent written communication skills and a service-first mindset when working with clients, colleagues, and the community.
  • Proven ability to interpret legislation (the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act), departmental policies and objectives
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviours, proactively managing bias

In this role, you’ll benefit from the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement that prioritizes meaningful in-person connection. A minimum oftwo days per week on-siteis expected, with additional in-person presence as operational needs evolve. This arrangement allows for a blend of in person and hybrid work that adapts to support both organizational priorities and employee flexibility and is subject to change over time.

It's important to note that your off-site work location must be within the province of Ontario. This ensures that we're compliant with all regulations and policies.
