THE OPPORTUNITY AWAITS YOU

The Coordinator of Human Resources supports the delivery of diverse human resource programs to enhance the overall effectiveness of human resource service delivery at Regina Public Schools by proactively sourcing and maintaining candidate pipelines, coordinating staffing files, coordinating orientation and onboarding, coordinating professional development and training initiatives. This position is also responsible for maintaining employee records, and ensuring the organization is compliant with existing employment laws, regulations and administrative procedures. This position will support a dedicated client portfolio but will provide backup and coverage as necessary to ensure effective human resource service delivery to the organization.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Performing recruitment and selection responsibilities in support of the staffing process including preparing job postings, organizing and screening applications, conducting reference checks and conducting interviews where required.
  • Creating and maintaining Job Descriptions for the organization ensuring they are up-to-date, accurate, adhere to modern human resource practices and are consistently managed through human resources.
  • Conducting research and analysis related to market compensation, collective bargaining and other human resource related topics providing information and recommendations to human resource team members.
  • Identifying program ideas, process improvements, or development opportunities and recommending those to management for consideration.
  • Supporting ongoing relationships with community partners and recruitment agencies to build talent pipelines for to support current and future business needs.
  • Supporting and coordinating accurate, up to date HRIS system records by keying and updating all necessary employee information into the HR databases and HRIS systems, ensuring accuracy and integrity of information including new hire set ups, employee status changes, termination data in personnel files, and other ongoing maintenance of employee data as required to support human resource programs and services.
  • Coordinates tracking and recording of position FTE data to ensure all position changes reorganizations, new positions, transfers, changes in hours, reclassifications, are entered in HRIS and reconciled with Business Affairs.
  • Managing working relationships within the organization to clarify needs, respond to and resolve questions, issues or problems to ensure satisfaction with the delivery of human resource services.
  • Collecting, compiling and following up on necessary information related to performance evaluation, professional development, grievance tracking, etc., to ensure adherence to policies, procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Responding to initial employee inquiries related to all human resource programs, policies and services and exercising sounds judgment in the escalation of inquiries as necessary.
  • Preparing and circulating correspondence and reports required in accordance with the Collective Agreements (e.g. layoffs, seniority lists, etc.) and Administrative Procedures (e.g. Long Service Recognition, etc.).

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • A diploma in Human Resources or related discipline.
  • Minimum two years’ of human resources experience with talent acquisition, conducting research, reporting on and supporting delivery of human resource programs and services.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment with a larger organization (500+ staff).
  • Experience working in the education sector is considered an asset.
  • CPHR designation is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of The Saskatchewan Employment Act, The Education Act, 1995, The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, 2018 and familiarity with The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020.
  • Exceptional client service orientation with strong judgement and exceptional time management, organizational, interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and focused listening skills.
  • Ability build and maintain strong relationships demonstrating emotional intelligence, tact, and ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proven decision-making and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency for managing multiple, complex priorities within demanding timeframes.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Computer proficiency required including advanced Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and industry specific software.
