Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a Materials Coordinator for its Mobile Maintenance Department at Fording River Operations. This role focuses on coordinating materials and resources to ensure maintenance activities run smoothly, while improving documentation and processes.

Strong written and verbal communication, initiative, and teamwork are essential. You will work closely with Planning, Scheduling, Execution, and Materials teams to drive continuous improvements and ensure parts

Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience in materials coordination, inventory, purchasing and logistics preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with purchase orders, receiving, shipping and inventory reconciliation.
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and common Microsoft tools.
  • Working knowledge of Maintenance Planning and Materials Management Best Practices.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate materials and parts to support maintenance activities.
  • Assist with planning and scheduling meetings and daily standups.
  • Validate delivery status of materials and provide mitigation actions.
  • Process requisitions for new items and changes to min/max levels.
  • Coordinate part requirements with purchasing, planning and execution.
  • Assist with storage and tracking of parts and tool organization.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practice development.
  • Back up planning and scheduling as needed.

About the role:

This role is based at EVR’s Fording River Operations and will be responsible for the coordination of resources for maintenance activities within the Mobile Maintenance Department. This position combines the responsibilities for materials coordination and documentation improvement to ensure resources are available to support the execution of all maintenance activities. Close coordination with the Planning, Scheduling, Execution, and Materials groups will be required to drive continuous improvements.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with proven skills in written and verbal communication, strong initiative and team consensus building. Also, someone who has strong analytical, logistical and problem-solving skills.

In this role you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Validate the delivery status of all material scheduled and provide mitigating actions for issues
  • Complete requisitions for new items, parts description changes and min/max changes supporting Plant Maintenance and Supply Chain
  • Order special tools or equipment, as required
  • Coordinate part requirements with purchasing, planning and execution
  • Assist with material management of cores and parts returns, shipping requirements, and material issues, etc
  • Assist crews with break-in work orders, parts sourcing and availability
  • Verify availability of service manuals and relevant technical documentation for processing equipment via regular communication with Execution
  • Recognize parts book issues and initiate corrective actions as well as build new books as required
  • Aid in the organization, storage and tracking of parts
  • Participate and contribute appropriately in daily and weekly scheduling meetings
  • Assist during continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assist with job plan creationImplement and develop Best Practices
  • Review and process warranty claims. Liaise with Warranty Coordinator and vendors
  • Assist with monthly and yearly shutdown planning, tooling, consumables supplies and parts deliveries
  • Support planning and scheduling as back up, when required
Requirements:
  • Experience with SAP would be an asset but not required
  • 2+ years experience in materials coordination, inventory, purchasing and logistics is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Experience with purchase orders, receiving, shipping and inventory reconciliation
  • Prior experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and common Microsoft tools

Salary:

$85,000 - $100,000 CAD/year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
