Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking an Environment Coordinator to oversee multiple development projects across site and ensure regulatory compliance at Fording River Operations in British Columbia.

Reporting to the Environment Lead, you will collaborate with multiple disciplines, engage with communities, influence process improvement, and manage data, permits, and inspections to support safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Forestry, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • Minimum three years experience in environmental regulation or compliance in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to influence and support practical and process changes across disciplines.
  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations.
  • Experience with environmental data management, analysis, reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
  • Collaborate with and develop relationships with various disciplines, departments, external agencies and communities of interest.
  • Coordinate completion of regulatory compliance obligations from project applications including management plans, permit approvals, and inspections.
  • Organize regulatory inspections and provide action response plans for any findings.
  • Fulfill information requirements for projects from internal and external groups.
  • Develop understanding of permits, management plans and parallel regulatory requirements for all projects.
  • Reconcile legacy information and documentation from permitting and regulatory files into a retrievable system.

About the role:

Reporting to the Environment Lead, the Environment Coordinator is responsible for coordinating multiple development projects across site to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and manage effective integration with existing operations at Fording River Operations (FRO).

To be successful, we are looking for someone with strong leadership abilities, who can excel in a multi-functional team environment with nominal supervision; someone with excellent written and verbal communication, who can effectively build and foster relationships while engaging with communities of interest and professionals at all levels of the organization for the purpose of influencing and implementing continuous improvement. In addition, strong problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational, time management, and analytical skills as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are vital for this role.

In this role you will:

  • Technical knowledge of federal and provincial compliance practices and regulations is an asset
  • Experience with environmental data management, analysis, reporting, and utilizing databases is an asset

Salary range: 96,000 - 113,000 CAD/ year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
