Location: Ottawa and Region, Ontario | Hybrid (remote and in-office)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule: 37.5 hours per week, with regular evening, weekend and holiday work requirements

About the Distress Centre of Ottawa and Region

For more than 55 years, the Distress Centre of Ottawa and Region (DCOR) has been a source of connection, hope, and empathy for those experiencing stress, distress, and crisis across and well beyond the City of Ottawa. Operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year, DCOR provides accessible, confidential, and non-judgmental support and referrals in both English and French. Through our phone lines, community partnerships, training, and volunteer-driven programs, we ensure that no one in our community faces their most difficult moments alone.

About the Position

Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Coordinator, Digital Media and Events brings DCOR's brand to life across digital channels and community events. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role: the Coordinator produces social and email content, plans and delivers DCOR's events end to end, and creates on-brand collateral, with care for the mental health and crisis-support context in which DCOR works.

The Coordinator is the day-to-day steward of DCOR's social channels, and works with the Director, Partnerships and Development on events that support fundraising and donor engagement. During peak event periods, the Coordinator sets priorities across social media, events, and creative work with the Manager, Communications.

Key Responsibilities

Social Media and Digital Marketing: Approximately 40%

  • Monitor DCOR's social media channels.
  • Build and manage monthly content calendars across digital platforms, ensuring alignment with campaigns, awareness dates, and organizational priorities.
  • Create and execute platform-specific content and digital campaigns (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and others) that are on-brand, engaging, and suited to each audience and format.
  • Write and adapt copy across channels including social media and email, with sensitivity to the mental health and crisis support context.
  • Support email marketing initiatives including content drafting, deployment, and performance tracking in compliance with DCOR practices and legislative requirements.
  • Track and report on digital performance metrics (engagement, reach, conversions) and share insights with the Manager.
  • Stay current on sector digital marketing trends and tools to continuously strengthen DCOR’s presence.

Events Coordination: Approximately 40%

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute DCOR’s community events, from concept through post-event evaluation.
  • Coordinate all event logistics including venue liaison, vendor relationships, budget tracking, and run-of-show planning, escalating to the Manager or Director as required.
  • Orient, schedule, and manage volunteers supporting event delivery when applicable.
  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and promotional plans for each event, in collaboration with the Manager.
  • Represent DCOR at community events, sector gatherings, and tabling opportunities
  • For fundraising and donor events, coordinate with the Director, Partnerships and Development on event objectives, guest lists, and donor acknowledgement and follow-up.
  • Collect and document consent for photography, video, and personal stories gathered at events.

Creative Production and Media Support: Approximately 20%

  • Design routine collateral and digital assets, such as social graphics, event materials, one-pagers, and presentations, applying DCOR's brand standards.
  • Maintain DCOR’s digital asset library (logos, templates, photography, brand guidelines).
  • Support internal communications needs, ensuring organizational materials reflect DCOR’s visual identity.
  • Monitor media mentions, compile summaries and flag relevant items for the Manager.
  • Support the Manager in preparing media materials including talking points, backgrounders, and press kits.
