Job summary

Ruth & Naomi's Mission in Chilliwack, BC is seeking a Cook to join our Food Services team on a full-time, 3-month term contract. The role supports two kitchens: one serving shelter guests and community partners, and another assisting participants in supportive housing and recovery programs.

You will prepare meals, follow menus, and ensure safe storage and sanitation while working with staff, volunteers, and program participants to provide dignified, nourishing meals.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a commercial or high-volume kitchen.
• FoodSafe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
• Strong cooking and meal preparation skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Compassionate and respectful approach toward vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare nutritious and appealing meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services
• Follow established menus while accommodating dietary needs and available inventory
• Ensure food is stored, labelled, and rotated safely using FoodSafe standards
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and food preparation areas

Ruth & Naomi's Mission is seeking compassionate and skilled Cooks to join our Food Services team.

Our Food Services team plays a vital role in supporting the people we serve by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals with care and dignity. This position supports operations across two kitchens: one serving shelter guests and community partners, and another supporting participants in supportive housing, recovery programs, and older adult shelter services.
