Job summary

Real Food for Real Kids in Toronto, Ontario, is seeking an Overnight Cook to join our Food Production team. You will assist with high-volume meal preparation, follow standardized recipes, and uphold strict food safety guidelines in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate has a High School diploma (or equivalent), a strong work ethic, and the ability to stand for 8 hours while lifting up to 25 kg. We offer benefits and career growth within a mission-driven company.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen or food production environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with high-volume meal preparation.
  • Cook and portion hot food items according to standardized recipes.
  • Organize, weigh, and count food ingredients.
  • Follow all food safety regulations and operational guidelines.
  • Ensure all food meets quality and safety standards, promptly reporting any issues to the Quality Assurance team and Production Manager.
  • Contribute to team performance metrics and participate in team meetings.
  • Support production tasks related to meal preparation for the following day.
  • Other duties as required
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Ensure fridges and freezers remain well-stocked and orderly.
  • Properly sort and dispose of kitchen waste in an organized manner.
  • Assist with waste removal as needed.
  • Adhere to all health and safety protocols to create a safe working environment.

Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm

Compensation: $21.00/hour

The Position

The Cook Team Member contributes to the preparation for that day's tasty lunch. You'll perform routine kitchen duties such as setting up workstations, and following recipes. The Cook Team Member is proactive in health and safety matters, ensuring all rules are being followed. The Cook Team Member will consistently work as a member of a fast-paced, busy environment in a team setting.

About You
Required Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced kitchen or food production environment is preferred.

  • Math skills – capable of performing basic calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) for portioning and measurements.
