Job summary

Shared Health invites applications for a Casual Food Production role at the Tyndall Food Production unit, Selkirk Mental Health Centre. The incumbent coordinates food distribution, supervises staff, and ensures compliance with safety and health regulations in a large-scale operation.

The position requires a recognized Commercial Cooking course and at least 3 years of relevant experience, with rotating days, weekends, and standby coverage.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized course in Commercial Cooking and a minimum of 3 years' experience in a large-scale commercial cooking operation (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Ability to apply food preparation knowledge with attention to food safety requirements, safe work practices, and Health Regulations.
  • Strong leadership abilities and experience in managing staff.
  • Good interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and meet established deadlines under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate food production and distribution per unit needs.
  • Lead and supervise food production staff; rota and coverage planning.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Maintain documentation and communicate effectively with team and supervisors.

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Experience
  • Prior experience and knowledge in coordinating food distribution.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Completion of a recognized course in Commercial Cooking and aminimum of 3 years' experience in a large-scale commercial cooking operation (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).

Physical Requirements
  • The incumbent is normally required to work rotating shift, including statutory holidays and weekends.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
