Job summary

Compass Group Canada in Victoria, BC, is seeking a Cook to prepare, pre-cook and cook foods following corporate standards while ensuring quality and safety. The role involves mise en place, labeling, storage, and teamwork to support high-volume outputs.

You will work with a focus on food safety, equipment cleanliness, and adherence to procedures, reporting issues promptly and collaborating with other departments as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven cooking experience, including experience as a restaurant cook or prep cook.
• Food Safety Certification required.
• Certificate from a recognized cooking school.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare "mise en place" and other products for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas.
• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

\" The hourly wage rate for this position is $27.56 - (base pay + SSO wage*)*Base $22.55 + $5.01/hr SSO wage) *Single Site Order (SSO) is subject to the direction of government and may be discontinued at any time.

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare \"mise en place\" (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas.
• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
