Job summary

Cogir Senior Living in Kitchener, ON, is seeking a part-time Cook to prepare and serve meals for residents, guests and staff at Briarfield Gardens. Reporting to the Culinary Manager, you will review menus, follow production charts, adhere to food safety rules, and accommodate therapeutic diets while maintaining quality and budget.

Candidates must have a Food Handler's Certificate; Red Seal preferred; healthcare or large-volume cooking experience; ability to lift heavy items and pass a Vulnerable

Qualifications

• Must possess a Food Handler's Certificate.
• Experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in healthcare.
• Knowledge of Provincial Food Premises Regulation and Canada's Food Guide to Healthy Eating.
• Must have knowledge of and experience with special and therapeutic diets.
• Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy items and stand for long periods.
• Ability to provide Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• To prepare and/or be responsible for the preparation/delivery of all foods for residents, guests and employees.
• To review menus and production sheets before preparing meals and serve them attractively.
• To ensure proper food handling techniques and follow safety standards.
• To complete daily temperature audits for fridges, freezers and storerooms.
• To adhere to daily production charts, recipes and menus within budget.
• To follow health, safety, and dietary department policies and procedures.
