Position Summary

The cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes according to recipes and quality standards. This position requires knowledge of various cooking techniques, ingredients, and equipment, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high levels of cleanliness and food safety.

Responsibilities/duties Include

  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring as necessary.
  • Cook menu items in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Monitor food temperatures and ensure that all dishes are cooked to the appropriate level of completion.
  • Coordinate timing of cooking to ensure that all dishes are prepared and served simultaneously.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times, including proper handling and storage of ingredients, as well as regular cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying management when supplies need to be replenished.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to maintain a smooth flow of operations during busy periods.
  • Follow all instructions and guidelines provided by the head chef or kitchen manager.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste properly.
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings as required.
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a cook in a restaurant or food service establishment.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques and culinary terminology.
  • Ability to follow recipes accurately and consistently.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Certification in food handling and sanitation
