Job summary

Compass Group Canada in Vancouver is seeking a cook to prepare, pre-cook and cook food in a high-volume kitchen. You will set up mise en place, maintain quality standards, and ensure proper labeling and storage of ingredients.

The role requires a Food Safety Certification and a certificate from a recognized cooking school, with the ability to work independently or in a team while maintaining health and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Job description

The hourly wage rate for this position is $27.56 - (base pay + SSO wage*)*Base $22.55 + $5.01/hr SSO wage) *Single Site Order (SSO) is subject to the direction of government and may be discontinued at any time.

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare "mise en place" (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas.
• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
