Job summary

Compass Group Canada in Victoria, BC is seeking a cook to prepare, pre-cook and cook food to meet corporate standards. You will set up mise en place for high-volume production and maintain strict health and safety practices in the kitchen.

The role requires proven cooking experience, a Food Safety Certification, and a certificate from a recognized cooking school. You will work as part of a team to ensure quality food service at all times.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare mise en place for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment according to health and safety policies.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products.
• Communicate with appropriate operational departments.
• Report needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Job description

The hourly wage for this position is $27.56 - (base pay + SSO wage*) *Base $22.55 + $5.01/hr. SSO wage) *Single Site Order (SSO) is subject to the direction of government and may be discontinued at any time.

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
• Prepare "mise en place" (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production.
• Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
• Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas.
• Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
• Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
• Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
