Vintage Hotels & Niagara's Finest Hotels is seeking a Cook 1 to join our growing kitchen team. This role offers flexibility, valuable work experience, and a chance to work with a tenured team across our properties.

The ideal candidate brings at least three years' kitchen experience, Red Seal Certification, Safe Food Handler’s Certificate, and excellent guest service. You will prepare menu items, maintain safety standards, and support colleagues as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in a kitchen.
  • Red Seal Certification required.
  • Safe Food Handler’s Certificate required.
  • Excellent guest service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity.
  • Preparations of menu items according to specifications and Guest requests.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Assists with quality control and stock rotation.
  • Adhere to food standards set out by Lais Hotel Properties' kitchen management.
  • Having a thorough knowledge of Lais Hotel Properties' products and services.

Position Summary: An experienced cook with the desire to exceed and the passion to learn in the Food Industry.

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
  • Providing personalized and exceptional guest service at every given opportunity
  • Reports to manager that is attainable at the time - Chef de Cuisine, Junior Sous Chef, Executive Chef
  • Preparations of menu items according to specifications and Guest requests
  • Assist other team members as needed
  • Maintain a clean work area
  • Assists with quality control
  • Performs stock rotation
  • Adhere to food standards set out by Lais Hotel Properties' kitchen management
  • Having a thorough knowledge of Lais Hotel Properties' products and services
  • Suggesting additional products and services meeting our Guests' specific preferences
  • All other duties as assigned
Technical/Managerial/Administrative Requirements
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience
  • Good communication and listening skills
  • Self-motivated
Professional Requirements
  • Red Seal Certification
  • Basic knowledge of WHMIS and safe food handling
  • Professional work ethic
  • Basic knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Current Safe Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Excellent food knowledge
  • Previous up-selling and/or sales experience is considered an asset
