Job summary

Chartwell Retirement Residences is seeking a warm, detail-oriented Cook to prepare meals that delight residents in our long-term care communities. You’ll follow Chartwell menu guidelines, maintain sanitary kitchens, and work as part of a collaborative team to ensure meals are nourishing and served on time.

The role values food safety, respectful resident interactions, and continuous improvement. Previous LTC cooking experience and a Food Handler certification help, and you’ll have opportunities

Qualifications

• Experience cooking in long-term care, preferred.
• Food Handler certification required.
• Able to work collaboratively with a team.
• Able to communicate effectively with residents and colleagues.

• Prepare, cook and plate food according to Chartwell menu guidelines.

Your culinary skills and attention to detail will help foster a warm and welcoming atmosphere where food is both nourishing and enjoyable.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare, cook and plate food following Chartwell menu guidelines
• Comply with all public health regulations and safe food handling guidelines
• Maintain food preparation areas and equipment in a sanitary condition
• Ensure meals are prepared and served on time and at the correct temperature
• Assist with ordering, receiving, and storing food supplies

What You’ll Bring

• Previous cooking experience in LTC preferred
• Food Handler certification
• Work collaboratively as a team member
• Interact and communicate effectively with internal and external customers

• Wear personal protective equipment as required
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry heavy items
• Manual dexterity to handle cooking tools and kitchen equipment
