Casa Dolce Casa is seeking a Cook specializing in Italian cuisine to support nutritional care and meal service for residents. The role requires preparing meals, ensuring proper temperatures, and adhering to care plans and dietary requirements.

The position involves kitchen duties, food storage, and collaboration with staff to maintain high standards of resident comfort and safety. Weekend work is required. Previous experience in a care setting is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review menus and prepare food for meals, snacks and special dietary supplements according to menu requirements and production directives.
• Ensure foods are served at appropriate temperature and monitor temperatures as required.
• Prepare foods using therapy-related textures and approaches per residents’ care plans.
• Serve meals and handle any required monetary transactions.
• Assist residents, upholding their rights and dignity as per the Resident Bill of Rights.
• Clean kitchen areas, dishes, pots, pans, and equipment after meals.
• Store food properly in compliance with health regulations and related acts.
• Communicate residents’ care needs to appropriate staff.
• Place food orders when the Chef is absent.
• Submit requisitions for food, supplies, or equipment maintenance.
• Work as Dietary Aide as needed and help orient new staff.
• Maintain ongoing education requirements for food service.
• Respect residents' privacy and confidentiality in all duties.
• Follow policies and procedures and be willing to work weekends.

Overview

Cook - Italian cuisine. This position is responsible for performing all assigned nutritional care responsibilities in accordance with legislated standards, policies, and procedures designed to ensure that each resident receives support, care and services in keeping with his/her needs and preferences, with a focus on excellence in customer service.

Responsibilities

1. Review menus and prepare food for meals, snacks and special dietary supplements and catered events according to the menu requirements, standardized recipes and production sheet directives.
2. Ensure that foods are served at appropriate temperature; adhere to required temperature monitoring and recording policies without exception.
3. Ensure that food is prepared utilizing the appropriate therapeutic approaches and textures specified in the residents’ care plans.
4. Serve food at mealtime and collect money when required.
5. Assist residents as required ensuring their rights and dignity as established by the Resident Bill of Rights is followed.
6. Clean up kitchen following meals including cook area, dishes, pots, pans, equipment, etc.
7. Store food in an appropriate and timely manner according to Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Homes Act, Retirement Home Act and any related Regulations.
8. Communicate with appropriate staff regarding residents’ care and needs.
9. Place food orders in the absence of the Chef.
10. Complete requisitions for food, supplies, or equipment maintenance and submit to the appropriate parties.
11. Work as Dietary Aide as required.
12. Assist in the orientation of new employees as required.
13. Maintain continuing education requirements.
14. In the performance of all duties, demonstrate respect for the privacy, dignity, and individuality of the resident; adhere to home policy on confidentiality.
15. Perform all duties and demonstrate conduct in accordance with the policies and procedures.
16. Willing to work on weekends.
