We are seeking an experienced conveyancing paralegal or legal assistant to join our team to provide legal and administrative support to lawyers with a primary focus in Real Estate. A capacity for civil litigation, estate planning/administration, and family law would also be an asset but not required.

We have a full-time opportunity for a highly skilled and enthusiastic Real Estate Conveyancer with an immediate start date. The right candidate will have at least 4 years of experience, be exceptionally organized, manage multiple priorities effectively, and be a great team player.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting with the opening and closing of real estate files.
  2. Communicating with lenders and brokers.
  3. Reviewing purchase and sale contracts.
  4. Drafting and reviewing documents such as conveyance, lending documents, mortgage documents, vendor and purchase transaction documents, trust letters, statements of adjustments, closing documents, reports, and accounts.
  5. Generating correspondence and reports as directed.
  6. Reviewing, requesting, or ordering real property reports, certificates of title, title insurance, and related documents.
  7. Preparing transfers or affidavits of transferees.
  8. Assisting with document revisions as needed.
  9. Setting up meetings with clients.
  10. Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Completion of a legal assistant program or relevant conveyancer experience (4+ years).
  • High proficiency with MS Office 365 Suite, Adobe Pro, PCLaw, and other legal resources.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Excellent organization, reliability, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience with conveyancing software such as Lawyer Done Deal or similar programs.
  • Ability to perform due diligence searches using SPIN.
  • Exceptional drafting and proofreading skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

This is a full-time position (35 hours/week), Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with an hour lunch. Benefits include medical & dental coverage, free onsite parking, and a dog-friendly office environment.
