Job summary
Carrier’s Automated Logic division in Mississauga is seeking a Controls Specialist to install, commission and optimize advanced DDC systems. This onsite role requires 90% travel to GTA client sites and hands-on troubleshooting to deliver turnkey automation projects.
You will lead technical tasks, train owners on system operation, and collaborate with Project Managers to maintain project integrity while ensuring safety and quality standards. Travel is essential.
Qualifications

- 2+ years in Building Automation or HVAC Controls.
- Valid Driver’s License and insurable.
- Lift up to 50 lbs and able to climb for extended periods.

This is an onsite role in Mississauga and requires 90% of the time traveling to clients’ sites in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
- System Performance: Install, commission, and optimize advanced DDC systems, ensuring controls, sensors, and networks meet performance standards.
- Proactive Problem Solving: Use technical judgment to solve automation challenges and mitigate project risks before they impact timelines.
- Technical Leadership: Train owners on system operation and partner with Project Managers to manage risks and improve execution.
- Travel & Growth: Travel as needed and adapt to changing schedules while taking end‑to‑end ownership of complex projects.
- Project Integrity: Maintain accurate documentation and participate in project reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of hands‑on experience in the Building Automation or HVAC Controls industry.
- Hold a valid, current Driver’s License and be insurable by the company’s insurance carrier.
- Lift items up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as squat and climb for extended periods.
- Capable of working over 8 feet above grade and proficient in the use of ladders and motorized lift equipment.
- Background: Degree or Technical Certificate in HVAC, Controls, or a related field.
- Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of BAS integration and TCP/IP. Experience in building automation software, such as WebCTRL, and installing building automation controls.
- Project Ownership: Demonstrated experience in delivering turnkey solutions while independently working with increasing scope complexity and managing resources to meet all milestones.
- Technical Problem Solving: Proactively identifies and resolves system issues using a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical plans.
- Software & Systems: Proficient in loading and configuring building automation software, including trends, alarms, system reports, and end‑user training. Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications.
- Working Communication: Clearly translates technical project details for customers and maintains disciplined documentation and safety standards.
- Quality & Improvement: Anticipates customer needs and provides feedback on field tools and processes to drive operational efficiency and reliability.

The expected base salary range for this role is between $56,500.00 CAD - $106,500.00 CAD annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. This compensation includes components such as base salary, vacation pay, public holiday pay, potential estimated overtime pay and paid statutory leaves of absence. Additional benefits may include insured benefits such as health care, vision, dental, disability, as well as possible retirement contributions. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the province in which the applicant is to be employed.
This rolemayalso provide the opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation in the form of annual bonus, sales bonus, sales commission or local incentive. If the role provides for an opportunity to earn additional incentive compensation, it will be based on measurable performance factors which may includecompany performance, individual performance or other key performance indicators.
