Job summary

Eclipse Automation, Cambridge, ON, is seeking a Controls Software Designer - Service to contribute to machine concepts, design control software, and integrate software with electrical and mechanical systems across customer sites worldwide.

The role involves programming PLCs/PCs, debugging and commissioning systems on-site, and traveling to vendor/supplier locations as required (approx. 30%). An engineering degree and strong problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Post‑secondary engineering degree in electrical, systems or computer engineering.
• Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem solving skills.
• Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop software programs (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer and project requirements.
• Debug and commission control systems at our facility and at customer sites.
• Travel to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning and training duties.
• Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems and lasers.
• Provide thorough testing of machine functionality and accurate project documentation.
