Job summary

State Group Automation (SGA) is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to join our team across North America. You will work on high‑impact automation projects, supporting PLCs and HMI design, system integration, and field startups at customer sites.

Qualifications include 2–5 years in controls engineering, strong PLC/HMI knowledge, and readiness to travel across Canada and the USA. TN visa eligibility and a valid passport are required.

Qualifications

  • 2–5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.
  • Experience with Automotive, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing industries.
  • Willingness to travel to Canada and the USA.
  • Valid passport and driver’s license.
  • Eligibility for a TN Visa.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and comply with all safety standards.
  • Collaborate with customers, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support electrical and software design as needed.
  • Optimize cycle times and improve throughput.
  • Maintain customer relationships.
  • Assist with electrical and software design when required.
  • Start‑up, debug and troubleshoot PLC Controls at Build Shop and customer sites.
  • Improve throughput at customer sites.

What You Will Do

What You Need To Join Our Team
  • 2–5 years of experience as a Controls Engineer
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs and HMIs
  • Experience with Automotive, Supply Chain, or Manufacturing industries
  • Previous Amazon project experience is considered an asset
  • Siemens/TIA Portal, or Allen Bradley Experience
  • Extensive commissioning experience
  • Ability to travel to customer sites across Canada and the USA
  • Valid passport and driver’s license
  • Eligibility for a TN Visa
