The Controls Engineer is a full-time role based in Burlington, ON . This role designs, programs, and implements control systems for water filtration and treatment equipment, including specifying hardware, PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation. The Controls Engineer collaborates with mechanical, electrical, and project engineers to develop system architectures, create detailed wiring diagrams, and support integration with existing customer infrastructure. Day-to-day responsibilities include commissioning systems, diagnosing and resolving control-related issues, optimizing process performance, and providing technical support to field service teams and customers. The role also involves preparing documentation, maintaining standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of control strategies and automation practices.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience in wastewater treatment, water treatment, or industrial process systems.
Experience with Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, or comparable PLC platforms.
Familiarity with SCADA systems.
Experience with Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profinet, or other industrial communication protocols.
AutoCAD Electrical experience and/or SolidWorks
