Job summary

A leading company is seeking a Controller for a 3-month contract located in Burlington, Ontario. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing financial statements, managing a team, ensuring accurate invoice recordings, and assisting with audits. Experience in real estate and knowledge of Yardi is required, along with a CPA designation and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years management experience in a Controller role.
• Experience in Real Estate environment is mandatory.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements and variance projections.
• Manage a team to ensure timely month-end and year-end closure.
• Oversee accurate recording of all invoices by A/P Staff.

Our client is looking for a Controller for a 3 months contract.

Location: 4-5 days on site located Burlington, Ontario

***Real estate and Yardi experience is mandatory!

About the Opportunity

• Preparing monthly financial statements including detailed variance and projection analysis, annual property and tenant audited statements, and government reporting and remittances.
• Managing a team to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end general ledger close for portfolio of assigned properties
• Manage A/P Staff and ensure accurate recording of all invoices.
• Responsible for HST on residential rental properties vs. development properties.
• Assisting with the financial planning and analysis teams helping with annual forecasts
• Preparing and coordinating year-end audit files and financial statements for external audit and legal entity tax filings

About You

• University degree with a CPA (CA/CMA/CGA) designation required
• Have a minimum of 4 years management experience
• Experience in Real Estate environment is mandatory
• Experience with Yardi is required
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
